There are multiple opportunities related to medical tourism.  The number of international patients traveling to Costa Rica to get one or more of a range of medical treatments is growing, and this benefits many sectors of the Costa Rican business arena. 

The benefits of medical tourism are not exclusive to hospitals, doctors, and tourism companies, but also extend to a wide related value chain and to the rest of the greater economy.

Both, the patients and the health/tourism services providers, require a set of goods and services that are very important from a cluster point of view (financial conglomerate), where the competitiveness of each link is vital for the success and development of the rest of the chain.

In this sense, PROMED has found it crucial to establish a registry of goods and services suppliers related to the medical tourism industry.  This registry is intended to facilitate the matching of supply and demand, while monitoring the quality of the goods and services offered.

The Program for Suppliers addresses: pharmaceutical companies, medical equipment manufacturing companies, consulting companies, medical and health industries materials producers, dental laboratories, pharmacies, clinical laboratories, medical tourism infrastructure development companies, law firms, and communication agencies, among others.

PROMED, through its internal Admissions Committee verifies that the goods and services providers meet all eligibility requirements and standards that have been established.  Any contractual relationships established between a client and any of the suppliers in the directory are solely the responsibility of each of the parties and not PROMED’s.
